Our Story

Original ladders at Eloise Trading Company

Since opening in 2016, Eloise Trading Company has become a shopping destination in Moore County for both locals and visitors. Owners Melissa Hamilton and Betsy Saye met playing tennis years before ETC was born!  Sharing a love of pillows, beautiful home décor and great gifts, they created ETC, hand-picking every item for the store to achieve a balance of basics, classic items, and trendy pieces with a variety of price points from carefully curated brands from all over. Our historic Main Street location provides a fun but sophisticated atmosphere for every type of shopper.  There is so much so see in the bright wide-open space.  Our customers often say they must make a couple of laps to be sure they see everything before they make their final choices of what to buy! Our attentive team of Ladies at ETC are committed to providing personalized service to help you find the perfect gifts for everyone in your life and for every occasion.

About our historic building and location…The Old Aberdeen Hardware Store built in 1912.

In 2005, Betsy and her husband were drawn to the charm of historic downtown Aberdeen, North Carolina—an untapped gem just a few miles away from the bustling downtowns of Pinehurst and Southern Pines. They purchased the old Aberdeen Hardware building.

Built in 1912, the Aberdeen Hardware building provided a unique and historic layout that they loved. The built-in shelves and tin ceiling as well as the ladders, nail bin, and store counter are still the 1912 originals. People come into the store all the time with stories to tell about what the old Aberdeen Hardware was like when they were young... stories of riding the ladders down the shelving or memories of saving up their paperboy money to buy a certain item! And now, in what feels like a continuation of that joyful tradition, 111 W. Main Street is the home of Eloise Trading Company.

The close-knit sense of community found in historic downtown Aberdeen has always been strong. Small business owners are supportive of one another and always open to collaborate to keep customers shopping small!

Historic downtown Aberdeen has a small-town vibe that makes for a fun day out! Visit the shops. Dine at one of the fabulous restaurants. Check out the local music scene. Put your feet up and enjoy a cup of coffee or local microbrew. Watch the trains go by! Everyone can enjoy this small town with its sophisticated, signature southern style.
